I'm attempting to become more environmentally friendly, or "green", because I understand the concept of sustainability and how it applies to us.
As my reading reflection mentioned: we are currently consuming our natural resources at a growing rate; eventually, they will run out.
Personally, I consciously try to make as little impact as possible on the planet.
So far, I have tried to recycle more, buy organic food and increased the insulation in my house to cut down on the energy bills.
Today I encountered an "intractable" situation.
It happened on my way home. I went to IGA for grocery shopping.
I didn't realize that I left my shopping bag at home until I was waiting at the cash.
I'm used to putting a shopping bag in my schoolbag and this time it happened not to be there.
To be or not to be? That was a question.
I didn't want to buy a plastic bag, nor a reusable one either, because the point to get a reusable bag is to reuse it and I already have several at home.
If purchasing one more just because I don't want to use the plastic one, it makes reusable shopping bags meaningless.
Fine, eventually, I put back some large volume items and only took the ones that could be packed in my schoolbag.
Next time, I will make sure there is a shopping bag by my side all the time.
